Getting engaged, planning a wedding, being married is a big deal! That's why planning a wedding can be overwhelming and stressful for most couples. There's literally wedding workbooks full of decisions that has to be made; some of those decisions have subcategories of more decisions. With every decision comes an expensive price tag to consider. Once the couple finalize the details for their big day they will have to figure out who can they trust to decorate the reception and coordinate the day-of . Every bride dreams of what their wedding day will look like, the hand picked guest list, the food, the dj and of course the dress! The time and money invested into a wedding is to ensure the brides gets her dream wedding and to celebrate her love. So it is your job to make sure you are the perfect guest, here’s how:
RSVP – As soon as you know you’ll be able to attend
Assume Nothing – Do not assume it is okay to bring a plus one or children without talking to the bride or groom
NEVER show up empty handed, check to see if they are registered, give a monetary gift (which is always welcome) or buy something meaningful! Think about, your plate/ seat will cost them upwards of $25.
If for some reason, you can no longer attend the wedding please let the couple know in advance (it might save them a few bucks)
Dress for the occasion DO NOT wear jeans, t-shirt, gym shoes, white, cream or ivory. Come dressed to impress
DO NOT BRING A PROFESSIONAL CAMREA OR LIVESTREAM THEIR WEDDING, the couple probably hired an expensive photographer and videographer. You can compromise the quality of the paid professional work with your flash or simply being in the way. They invited you to be apart of their day, so please just enjoy it.
Arrive at least 10 minutes early to ensure you will be able to find parking and a good seat before the ceremony commence .
Have fun and take pictures with the bride and groom but do not talk their ears off, they should speak to all of their guest not just you boo.
If it’s an open bar, Please Please do yourself a favor and limit the amount of alcohol you consume! Do not be the super drunk person embarrassing yourself, irritating the guest and the couple have to pay someone to take you home! That's not fun for no one....
Ask the bride for permission if you want to take the centerpieces home, do not snatch and grab and stuff your purse, the bride may want to sell her décor after the wedding. If the decorations are rented, the bride may end up owing money if you take it.
Stay as long as you can and mingle! Be Positive and DO NOT speak negatively about the bride, groom, food, or décor at the wedding, it's tacky and it will start some ish if the wrong person hears you.
